The ability of chickens to mount an immune response to antigens that fail to elicit a response in mice can be attributed to the greater sequence homology between mouse and human compared to chicken and human. A formal epitope map to compare chicken and mouse derived antibodies is not yet available, but the concept is supported by a comparison of the homology of chicken, murine and human orthologues.
